Small Group Ministry
The definition of Small Group Ministry is the gathering together of groups from 5 to 10 people on a regular basis for the purpose of fellowship, study, sport or a specific activity of interest. They can be nurturing or service oriented, creating opportunities to build relationships and provide personal care for one another. Uniquely, small groups always have an empty chiar for new members. New people are encouraged to join a group, helping them to meet others and feel like part of the community.
At St. Stephen we have many service oriented groups, who meet regularly to complete a task. And yet they know each other, are accepted, loved and challenged by each other. An example is our Altar Guild. Most people on the Altar Guild know each other and would care for each other if one were in need.
On the other hand, the nurturing small groups are groups like our Evening Circle, a women's Bible study group. They meet each month and study the Word of God. They follow the same criteria. Each member knows each other, cares, loves, and is accepted by each other.
Below is a list of the existing small groups at St. Stephen. Some are service oriented and some are nurturing groups. If interested in one of these groups and you have a church directory, call the person listed as the contact person and see how you can get plugged in. If you are new and need assistance, contact Carolyn Champagne at the church office and she will be glad to help you get connected (407-869-0491).
