The St. Stephen Pipe Organ
The organ at St. Stephen combines wind-blown pipes with electronically produced
sounds, blending centuries of artistry and craftsmanship with today's
leading edge technology. Electronically produced organ voices are precisely
matched to several sets of wind-blown pipes. The excellence of old tradition
is merged with the excitement of modern technological breakthrough.
Several features enhance our listening experience. Antiphonal speakers in the west alcove can echo the main organ or provide surround-sound. A music synthesizer will provide many sounds not traditionally found on pipe organs, such as: percussion, bells, electric guitar, orchestral instruments, and modern synthesizer tones. This versatility adapts the organ to a variety of worship styles.
