Child & Teen Education
St. Stephen offers an exciting Sunday
School program for people of all ages, starting with pre-school on up to 99.
All of these education opportunities are offered at 10:00AM and are open to
all who would like to learn more about Jesus Christ.
Children’s Sunday School
This program is for pre-schoolers through 6th grade. They follow the Faith Weavers material and enjoy hearing great Bible stories and making fun crafts. Our 5th and 6th graders will be using a new curriculum called "Grapple" which will give them an opportunity to connect with their classmates and teacher during the week on a special website. They will bring back to class what they learned. Our Sunday school department offers a few special events throughout the year also. They include:
- Rally Sunday Kick-off
- Christmas Ornament Workshop
- Valentine's Party
- Easter Egg Hunt
- Year end party along with other new events each year
First Communion Training
This training if offered during Lent
for early elementary children to prepare them to receive this sacrament. This
is no minimum age for children, but parents and children attend the classes
together. It is recommended that the child know how to read.
Confirmation Classes
Classes for seventh and eighth graders are scheduled on Sunday evenings from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. We use the "Here We Stand" material, along with the Lutheran Handbook. Both classes also study the Old and New Testament over the 2 years, during the Sunday School hour at 10:00AM. Both classes will attend Lutherock Confirmation Camp in North Carolina for a week, and the second year class will also have a beach retreat.
High School Youth
This group of teens we call “Solid Rock” Youth. They meet for Sunday School at 10:00AM. They also meet every Sunday evening from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. At this time they have special programs and events planned that help them grow in their faith, yet allowing them to have fun socializing as a group. There are some events they never miss:
- Night of Joy at Disney
- Youth Weekend - they plan the service
- "The Gathering" held every 3 years
- Yearly Mission Trip
Vacation Bible School
A fun-filled week of discovering God's
love with an enthusiastic group of leaders. There will be crafts and games and
plenty of time to make some new friends. The program is held each year during
the summer. Check this website around March or April for dates and information
on this great program.
Music Camp
A wonderful week full of music, drama and fun for the kids. Connie, our Music Director, prepares the children all week for a final Musical performance on Friday night. Each year has a new Biblical theme. The day runs from 9:00am to 3:00pm, with extended care available. Help is always needed. This is another program run each summer.
Destination
Science Camps
Destination Science Summer Day Camps are exciting, fun, hands-on, learning programs for campers 5 to 11 years. Their summer camps revolve around central science themes such as Technology, Physics and Space, the whole time building on all the science disciplines as determined by the National Science Education Standards. Their summer camps take a unique approach to learning by emphasizing critical thinking and creative problem solving. St. Stephen will host some of these camps during the summer.
