Family Ministry

At St. Stephen we believe that Families are the key to a vibrant faith. Research after research shows that parents are the key spiritual leaders in their children's lives. It is our goal to equip families with the tools they need to develop their faith in the home and encourage our entire congregation to be a unified family, supporting families! After all, the word family can define any group of people who love each other unconditionally and support one another. To help our families develop their faith we use the Vibrant Faith Model or 6-5-4-3:

6 Relationships for Shaping Faith
These are six areas that we focus our programs around to equip families for faith formation. The activities we offer will lift up at least one of these areas as these are the locations and situations that faith is formed. Whether it be through family retreats out in creation, serving our community with family service days, or offering family friendly activities for our congregation lead by the children and youth we want our families to understand these special places for faith formation.
5 Principles for Passing On Faith
These are principles we incorporate into our sunday morning experiences and all other children, youth, and family ministries. These principles are the ways faith is formed for our children and adults.
4 Keys for Practicing Faith
These are the four things that we all can do every day to practice our faith. Caring Conversations can be as simple as listening or sharing highs and lows. Devotions can be as simple as reading a bible verse or giving a blessing. Service is understanding how to serve others whether it be through large service projects or as simple as washing the dishes or taking the garbage out! Rituals and Traditions are those things the family does all the time together that has meaning behind it. It can be as simple as lighting a candle every night before dinner. These are the things we encourage our families to practice every single day.
3 Characteristics of Christian Disciples
These three things are what we want all of our families, adults, children, and members to demonstrate as disciples of the risen Jesus. And these three characteristics are what we look for in the adults that we have serving our children, youth, and families at St. Stephen.
